Protecting Your Hair When Swimming

It's summer time, time for that much needed vacation or girls trip that you have been planning all year. While swimming, we want you to protect your hair as the chlorine in the water can damage your hair. Following our tips can protect your hair before and after you take a dip in the pool.

Wet Your Hair Before Swimming

Wetting your hair prior to swimming helps to prevent your hair from absorbing the chlorine or beach water which can strip your hair of its moisture and cause breakage.

Use a protectant

Using a good conditioner or a oil can add a layer of protection that will decrease the amount of chlorine or saltwater from penetrating your scalp and drying out your hair. Our sulfate free moisturizing conditioner, scalp essentials oil or growth serum would be great to use.

Choose a protective style

Twist, corn rolls, bantu knots and buns are a few styles that can prevent your hair from getting matted or tangled.

After Swimming

Never leave salt or chlorine water in your hair. If you can not wash your hair immediately, thoroughly rinse your hair. Wash and condition your hair with a good sulfate free shampoo and conditioner. Wash your hair in cool water to help seal cuticles. Our moisturizing shampoo and conditioner would make an excellent choice.

Restore Moisture

Putting moisture back into your hair after swimming prevents breakage and restores luster and shine. Our leave in conditioner, scalp essentials oil, growth serum and vitamin E spray are great choices.
